CALENDAR FEBRUARY 2019
IMPORTANT OOC NOTES
◉ Our activity check changes from this month. We've already updated the FAQ to reflect this change. AC will now cover the time between the 1st of the month through the end of the month in UTC. If you're ever uncertain, change your time display on your journal to UTC to see if the dates on your submitted thread fall in the proper period. However, our first changed AC will cover the dates between January 20 - February 28.
◉ Our app processing will be adjusted as well. After this month, all applications will be processed on the 7th of the month.
◉ After apps are processed for February, we will be updating our application page to clarify when our window closes for submitting an application. Starting in March, all apps submitted after 12 PM UTC on the 6th of the month will be processed in the following app round. We hope this clears things up for our current and future applicants.
◉ February is a hard month without a 1:1 calendar, so we know that a few days are being shoved in there. To make it easier, we're going to handwave the last few days – please bear with us on this!
◉ Otherwise, this will be a slower month for our game. We had a lot of plot in the month of January, so we encourage everyone to bring their plotty questions and ideas to our plot engagement page.
WEATHER: Strong sun, very dry. Highs of 94, lows of 89 (F)
NOTABLE NEWS:
◉ Water rationing is still in effect, but any research into the month of September's weather trends will show signs of the dry season typically abating in early October.
◉ New Amsterdam restaurant month will continue through the end of the month. Anyone eager for some actual meat can try out a lot of the popular restaurants around the city. Make sure to get reservations for some of the hotter spots!
◉ With the new changes for Morningstar in the city, Gaby has her hands full trying to get everything together to help people move out, as well as help put together a new safehouse. There are still no leads as to how information was leaked, so getting the New Amsterdam agents and contacts – along with the rescued children, many of whom are now orphaned – out of the city will be of an utmost priority.
◉ For the displaced who are interested in setting up a new safehouse, El will supply three different sites:
1. Underneath an abandoned sports bar near the New Amsterdam sports stadium. While well-frequented, that means that people can enter and leave the area at ease.
2. An old hover bike mechanic shop. It's in a similarly dilapidated part of town. A lot of the buildings nearby house squatters who can't afford the high rents around the city.
3. A coffee shop on the edge of the financial district that went under 25 years ago. While other businesses have started up and failed here several times, Morningstar scooped up the property in foreclosure about five years ago.
We encourage players to have their characters discuss and determine the best option, and bring a plan to our plot engagement page. None of these sites are ready for this purpose, but each does have an underground unit that can be converted if needed.
◉ With all of the Morningstar agents and contacts fleeing the city, a lot of jobs are opening up! Numerous job postings will go up in the days following the attack that took place. Many of these will be highly coveted positions, while others won't be so different from what's available already.
◉ There are also job openings connected to the bigger gangs and mob families. They are now looking for new cooks for their restaurants, new mechanics, or other similar people. None of these outlets will know what happened, and will be concerned that these people decided to turn snitch.
◉ Governor Gill-Jade will be mum following the attack of the UNA on New Amsterdam citizens. If anyone visits the governor's website, there will be continued requests to turn in carcasses, with a link to the various drop sites.
DROPS: Bellamy Blake, Maeve Millay, Marcos Diaz, Scott Summers, Sumio Kodai and Wrench disappeared over the course of the last two IC weeks.
