MORNINGSTAR
HELLO MLARKY, Laura and Ellie (Fitz and Peggy!) are coming to you live from New Amsterdam with a Morningstar player plot turned player party, with IC sign-ups and information within the cut. The story so far:
Essentially, Fitz and Peggy’s IC aim was to keep the Morningstar organisation active and firing on all cylinders in New Amsterdam after their ranks were severely depleted by the UNA raids. Their conversations with Gaby, alongside the efforts of their fellow Morningstar PCs in the recruitment post and beyond it, have made this mission a success: Operation Morningstar Rebuild is a go, with various avenues for providing relief/outreach, gathering intel, and running resistance missions back on the table and more open to PCs than ever!
The Morningstar cause, as phrased in their IC recruitment is this: For over 50 years, Morningstar has fought to restore human rights, dismantle the influence of corporate conglomerates, fight government corruption, and save lives in this world.
As ever, characters can join Morningstar as agents or contacts. Characters can also transition from contact to agent at any point, as suits them and you, the player. Copy and paste the textbox deets in the SIGN-UP TOPLEVEL for ease. If you’d like to list character occupations, specialities or expertise, feel free to do so, but you don't have to! This could help give us all a better picture of the Morningstar network at present and link up for plots.
Again, no permission is needed to take part in these activities (except where agent status is a prerequisite, for training and resistance, as outlined by the mods and below)! This is strictly an open information resource for Morningstar activities.
A NOTE ON AGENTS
This post/sign-ups are open in perpetuity. Throw any QUESTIONS at us here!
EDIT 5/2: Added in a note re: changing from contact to agent at a later point; another note and edits surrounding the nature of agent status.
EDIT 5/3: As Morningstar is but one piece of the massive plot pie of Meadowlark, any information uncovered by Morningstar relating to the big game metaplot will be brought forward to the network/CR meme plot deets headers and/or the IC group info-sharing meetings the same as before.
— Way back in February (IC September), we chucked an initial plot engagement regarding how Fitz and Peggy would express interest in helping Morningstar rebuild both their relief/outreach and information networks after the raids as longtime fans and first-time callers, which saw Gaby handing off multiple projects to them, including an NPC safehouse, relief and outreach work, information, and the chance “for the PCs to prove that they aren't just concerned with getting home.”NOW LET’S GET INTO THE RESULTS!
— Then at the start of March (IC October), in response to this, Fitz and Peggy ran an IC recruitment post and asked what other PCs want to do with Morningstar, where they received a strong response with PCs interested in aid, informing, and active missions.
— Finally, in IC October (prior to dream plot), Fitz and Peggy approached Gaby and El regarding rebuilding Morningstar with these PC aims in mind.
— If you’re interested in Morningstar for your character, we recommend reading through this post in its entirety.

This could help give us all a better picture of the Morningstar network at present and link up for plots.
— Agents must be interested in actively furthering the Morningstar cause, nurturing trust with Morningstar. On plot engagement, the mods have been directing PC characters to Fitz and Peggy to join up. Don’t feel like you have to play this out or get our permission OOC — anyone can join at any time just by commenting to the sign-up with character’s name and journal for tracking purposes.Agents and contacts can both impact the RELIEF / OUTREACH and INFORMATION aspects of the revived Morningstar immediately. Agents alone can also access TRAINING opportunities and lead RESISTANCE missions (click! those! links!). We’ve set up headers on this post with notes on each strand of work from every step of our plot engagement, subsequent mod replies (indicated by quotes), and the IC post to compile all the deets in one place for easy access and save this from being the longest OOC post ever. These headers are just here to give you guys all the piping hot deets in a centralised location and list the various hooks for involvement (including some mysteries that need solving). We start each header with what the (successful) IC proposal was and then move to paraphrasing or quoting the mod reply therein.
— Equally, if you want to play out/handwave recruitment or talking through joining/fielding questions, we’re very keen on all things Morningstar and happy to join you on the ic road to agent status c:
— It is important to note the mods are still in charge. If you have an idea for a mission, go right ahead and check in with the mods on plot engagement as always!
— Fitz and Peggy have been ICly tasked with guiding the NA Morningstar rebuild/restructure efforts with both NPCs and PCs and managing PC recruitment after showing initiative and earning trust with the NPCs — with Gaby and El specifically handing off these projects to them/nudging them into running point.
— Contacts, as outlined by the mods, “would involve [characters] coming to them first with useful information — Morningstar would not be proactive about approaching [them] with anything.” This was, however, the old Morningstar! So given that Fitz and Peggy (and Gaby!) know the Displaced well, there may be more flexibility on this in that, say, if your PC is a Morningstar contact who has expressed interested in sourcing information, they may be asked about certain topics or events!
Again, no permission is needed to take part in these activities (except where agent status is a prerequisite, for training and resistance, as outlined by the mods and below)! This is strictly an open information resource for Morningstar activities.
A NOTE ON AGENTS
— At present, El has granted Fitz and Peggy access to the Morningstar Toolbox detailing all NPC agents and potential/past contacts of the NA Morningstar chapter (some of whom are unaware they’ve assisted Morningstar at all), so they can help brainstorm how to fill gaps in the network, take over old agent jobs, and reference useful contacts. Finally, Peggy and Fitz are in the process of proposing a neat-o headquarters for Morningstar ops to Gaby/El/the mods. More on that as it happens.
— On this note, the mods have said: “Our primary OOC aim is to give the PCs opportunities to setup a network around the city. They can call upon these old contacts, or even choose to dismiss them and set up a new one. We're not putting any hard limits on these except that they can't be in the government (Peggy would now fill that role) and we believe there are enough PCs in roles at the corporations to fulfill those ties. Otherwise, the sky's the limit - and we feel this would be a fun place for people to make up NPCs. Sometimes these connections could just get them into a building to get into another building - it doesn't need to be directly tied to Morningstar efforts.”
— “The key thing is that trust will need to be built. We won't be tracking that ourselves, and we'd prefer for this to be more of a plotting opportunity for characters who have joined Morningstar. They don't need to go through you two, either - that would expect way too much work! If you want to copy and paste this swath of information, please feel free!”
— So, here, your PC Morningstar agent can do investigations/jobs/sneaky sneaking just by doing what we’ve always done in this fab game: Hitting up the ol’ Plot Engagement. Fitz and Peggy can help with IC brainstorming for this, if it’s wanted, but again: The sky is limit, and you can do whatever you want, with or without us!
— Some examples of what you can do with Morningstar in progress: Kylo Ren is investigating a potential rescue operation for kidnapped agents, Keith is forming a strike team with Kaldur to be prepared for more active missions in future, and Rey is looking into the Morningstar leak and has been long prior to these developments.
This post/sign-ups are open in perpetuity. Throw any QUESTIONS at us here!
EDIT 5/2: Added in a note re: changing from contact to agent at a later point; another note and edits surrounding the nature of agent status.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Security contractor / fighting rings fighter / hopefully one day a gym owner
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Strength, fighting, being big and intimidating, weapons, hammers, working well on a team, sometimes not working well on a team, doing things that have to get done.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Support in dangerous situations is Thor's main interest, though if specific situations come up that fit his skills he's willing to help.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Head of the Committee for Customs and Border Protection Policy / New Amsterdam City Hall
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Spycraft (codebreaking, silent killing, sabotage, demolitions, radio communications, interrogation technique, survival skills
and parachuting), undercover work, tactics & strategy, expert marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat (armed and unarmed), combat medicine / basic first-aid. Also diplomacy and clerical duties. Her position at City Hall also allows her to facilitate travel in and out of New Amsterdam.AREA(S) OF INTEREST Relief, Information, Training, Resistance with a focus on recruiting for and organising the network, training, field missions, and being the primary contact within local government (as per the mods' note).

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Pianist / Soon-to-be sports bar owner
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Leadership, planning/organization, nursing and caretaking, basic hand-to-hand combat, excellent marksmanship.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Relief, information, training, resistance. He’s where you need him, when you need him. However, his idealism and empathy makes him particularly suited for relief and resistance.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: biker courier at RCS courier services.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Hand-to-hand (armed and unarmed), interrogation, tactical & strategic planning, decent marksman. Survivalist.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Relief, information, resistance and training if necessary. He will pretty much go where you need him but will function best in anything that places him directly in the field.

CHARACTER JOURNAL: deicider
IC OCCUPATION: sex work
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: full black ops skillset, political manipulation, honeypot operations, analysis, espionage.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Information and resistance. They will do training upon request.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Lab tech at Giles Bell
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Survival skills (tracking, hunting, smoking things, being able to make medicine in the wild), medic skills (Clarke sells herself short here: she's actually quite good), gun training, leadership/politics. Most of her skills don't apply to a city, but if anyone needs to go outside of the cities to explore? Clarke is a good person to have on a team.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Medical care/science, recognizing skills in others and delegating. She'll undoubtedly have Opinions about how NA Morningstar goes about things even if she doesn't join up officially. I realize this is primarily support to the four categories, but that's mostly because she's interested in the people involved rather than their mission.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Cab driver (as a note: he doesn't want a different job since he likes the freedom this offers him).
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Extremely skilled pilot, minor engineering, and field operative experience (infiltration, spying, fighting, thinking on his feet, being able to create explosives on the fly, being able to defuse problems from a distance). Also a field commander as the leader of Voltron, a five man operation that's one part flying giant robots and one part being on the ground doing things. As the leader of Voltron, he's also interfaced with world leaders to help establish defense perimeters around the world. He's extremely skilled in hand-to-hand combat and a wide variety of weapons, both earth-based and otherwise. He has a lot of experience in fighting against toxic regimes to bring down their horrible mindsets and try to offer a different/better way.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST All of the above, but primarily information/resistance/training. My goal is for him to go to Peggy and Fitz with a strike team that does a lot of the above, while working together to create what's a well-oiled machine/unit. He's thinking like 5-7 people on this team. Keith can do relief work and has been, but he gets antsy while doing it rather quickly.
because he's stubborn about joining at the moment
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: construction, ring-fighting side gig
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Fighting/training, infiltration, physical skills i.e. strike missions, combat, sharpshooter.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: Information and resistance. Somewhat interested in engineering, but he's not trained in this. Also interested in the current strife surrounding the Mars colony.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: bartender
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: strategy/tactics, counterintelligence, information gathering, armed combat, siege warfare (important when fighting monsters), listening, seeming trustworthy, reminding people of the son they never had, wilderness survival (temperate to taiga conditions)
AREA(S) OF INTEREST combat training, harm reduction, sabotage and espionage, counterintelligence, humanitarian aid, field work, running errands if necessary. he'd also like to try and direct morningstar towards researching and fighting the monster attacks if possible.
he has an arrangement with gaby to pass on anything he hears about local criminal activity at his bar, though he hasn't really...started yet...ideally he can be moved from bar to bar as necessary, and would do well working corporate and government events.
his combat style is not really suited to this kind of work but he'd like help with the training anyway. he firmly believes that sword fighting teaches valuable mental discipline and improvisational skills.
I'd like to develop his knack for counterintelligence (he's just really good with defensive strategies) into a formal skillset, and he's definitely going to shove his ideas at peggy and fitz whenever possible...sorry....

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: bike courier
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: piloting, basic engineering, teamwork, leadership, survivalism (orienteering, doing manly shit in the woods)
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: he'd give anything passed his way 100%, but is probably better at hands-on things like training, fighting or relief. or recruitment even.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Soon-to-be art dealer/curator, but is currently unemployed until they return to New Amsterdam.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Combat (hand-to-hand and melee), tactics, languages, bench pressing tanks, spying/sneaking, diplomacy, social literacy, being a living bulldozer, survival, cultural adaptation, adopting a kid a day apparently.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Diana is a 5000 year old god who is just really, really tired. But she found a purpose back in her own world--only to get dragged here and lose it. But she landed in the lap of Morningstar, which is kind of second-best! She isn't looking at joining up yet, but she believes in the humanitarian efforts MS is spearheading, and will do what she can to support those.
As far as her interests go, she's a huge nerd and is going to learn everything she can about the last 500 years of this world's history, including literature, art, music, etc. She'll eventually get a job working as either an art dealer or in a museum as a curator, depending on what availability in NA is. Hopefully, this will give her the sort of social status that will get her invited to exclusive charity events/galas, where she will get to schmooze with some of the big faces of the megacorporations and perhaps glean some useful information.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: mechanic for giles bell
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: mechanical repair, melee combat, drawing ??, shooting stuff, minor technological expertise, wilderness survival (desert)
AREA(S) OF INTEREST primarily in relief/outreach and the forward face of morningstar. rey's priority is to bring hope to the people of new amsterdam to increase support for morningstar, the same way that the jedi are responsible for bringing hope to the galaxy in support of the resistance. however, rey is also a big damn hero who doesn't know how to stop herself from going in for any operations that involve saving operatives. related to this, she's working on figuring out the leak in hopes of protecting more agents.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Soon-to-be info broker/odd job connoisseur.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Being sneaky, hiding, understanding advanced tech, baking, knife combat, gathering info, marksmanship.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST This is the first opportunity Nill has ever had to live among people who aren't either a) all aliens or b) battling death at every step. She's already very invested in her life in NA, partly because Heine is here and she hasn't seen him in over a year. Now that she's able to choose how she gets to live her life, she wants to do something that matters. She's already started by working with clothing donations/repair for MS with Sansa, and wants to do more. So she'll be slipping any interesting info she comes across at work to MS.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: vyonation tech drone, specializing in digital security
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Hacker Extraordinaire (back-end access, software manipulation, hardware on the fly, et cetera), experienced spy (combat both armed & unarmed, covert operations, interrogation [though less experienced in it], and so forth), true blue good girl looking to Save The World.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: anywhere she'd needed, tbh. equally happy to be the soldier on the front lines deployed to kick ass & take names as well as to be the girl in the chair manipulating servers to gain access into otherwise unavailable locations. would prefer not to be placed in a position of legitimate "leadership" but open to heading up small squads or leading a smaller team.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Magician... and soon-to-be sports bar manager/co-owner.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: Handy dandy mindreading powers, medical expert, neuroscientist, tactical/strategical planning, hand-to-hand combat, a past life spent being impressive at dinners and conferences with rich boring people and a newly established events business that may in future provide him a cover for getting into rooms with people whose minds need reading, and reading them.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: Relief/Outreach, Training (medical) and Information/(Resistance)! His primary focus is supporting the transition of the Displaced into their own safehouse and helping to manage the displaced/Morningstar balance in that context, but he signed up via Gaby during murdergate and he'll do what he can to make good on that too. Medical outreach and intel-gathering via his work & powers combo are on the cards!

2. to what extent do you think the training required to be on teams moving people out of the city is known to your average agent who hasn't been/has no current intention of being on a team?
Just because if Stephen's aware of it he'll make a strong suggestion that if agents are required to be combat trained for these missions then every team needs at least one agent with medical training at first-aid level or higher - and if that suggestion is made he'll also offer his help in administering said training.
3. just in general as a potential update for the Training comment, going forward Stephen'll be looking to offer specifically tailored basic medical training to Morningstar agents involved in relief and outreach work so they can help with the sorts of minor medical problems they may encounter while out and about. I'll possibly bring this up ICly at some point but also may not so for OOC reference I'll leave it here with you if that's ok!

2/3. laura and i actually discussed this yesterday so i'm so glad you asked! likely the training requirement is general knowledge amongst morningstar agents regardless of whether they're part of an escort team. and stephen offering training for field medicine would be very welcome and necessary! it not only ties into what all went down and what they learned from the rescue ops back in IC september but also what he and peggy discussed during the IC morningstar recruitment post (when she asked about him offering his services for medical emergencies) 🙌🏼
AND REALLY if you feel this is what strange would do then go for it, no permission from us needed!! morningstar and what characters do in it and with it are entirely up to players! this structure is just a jumping off point for whatever awesome ideas y'all come up with so go wild 👀

CHARACTER NAME: Wei Wuxian ( [Bad username or site: xuanyu @ mo] )
CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Street busker,
taking over Markus's hotel music job pending IC threading.SKILLS/EXPERTISE: TL;DR: "Ancient Chinese Renaissance Man" ( the most important skills for most needs are his prowess with weaponry, martial arts, heightened strength/agility, and his improvisational genius, and that it all adds up to him being a detective-of-sorts ). His current M'larky power is hypnotic music and he's very willing to both get his hands dirty.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST Information and relief/outreach, in equal parts.

IC OCCUPATION: Tech @ Pulsar

AREA(S) OF INTEREST Relief, information, training. Cassian is largely interested in building a network and he won't be upfront about the less pristine things he has experience with, but he wants to get Involved.

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: Gallery assistant, online art teacher.
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: He's a gentleman-scholar from the early to mid-Han Dynasty. He is well-versed in the Six Arts (archery, calligraphy, horsemanship/charioteering, general philosophy/governing of his time period, music, and mathematics). He's also arguably very well acquainted with the Four Arts (painting and Go-playing the only ones that don't overlap). Excellent swordsman. Very capable martial artist (though, he would prefer not utilize hand-to-hand combat). Quick learner. Considered one of the brightest of his generation. Very physically honed overall (unusual strength - particularly arm strength -, heightened/trained reflexes/agility/awareness). Really hard to piss off?
ANYWAY, tl;dr: he's a great Watson to Wei Wuxian's Sherlock Holmes. They ground each other. He's the more practical, more serious, and less social one of the pair.
Also, because I'm dead inside, I forgot the most important thing: his power is Veracity (Truth Compulsion). He's capable of compelling others to speak the truth or muting them if they fail to. So, he's your human truth serum.
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: Both Information and Outreach/Relief interest him in equal measure. Canonically, he's known for being unusual among cultivators for taking up any job that requires that sort of expertise (as most are concerned with prestige and the pay).

CHARACTER JOURNAL:
IC OCCUPATION: NAPD (trainee till late IC january afaik )
SKILLS/EXPERTISE: jiang cheng would come with all of the usual wuxia things - martial arts/weaponry (swords, bows, hand to hand combat), knowledge of body (again, coming in useful at hand to hand combat but also, medical/acupuncture/pressure points etc), mathematics, astronomy, horseriding, some other cultural things like calligraphy/poetry/arts.
but that isn't all! jiang cheng's real strength comes from his 20+ years experience in being the head of his own cultivational sect with many disciples and subordinates to lead and train, as well as overseeing day to day management of household. he was also involved in a lot of warfare so he is familiar with a tonne of things including strategies/offense and defense tactical knowledge. he knows how to be diplomatic and has proper manners, and has good knowledge on distribution of resources through regions / trade routes / basic business skills, etc.
I also have to point out that he is also skilled in what is called night-hunts ( which is basically covert tracking of ghosts and spirits for elimination, done in singles or groups ), and has some good knowledge of capturing people ( and torturing them, welp ).
/EDIT/: his power in meadowlark is poison generation - there are a couple of ideas I'm bouncing around in regard to how to develop this / areas where I want to take it to, but I want to see if we could play around with this possibly being useful for interrogation or information gathering in one way or another!
AREA(S) OF INTEREST: information, primarily. relief and training, maybe resistance down the line as he figures out more about what is going down.
EXTRA NOTE: putting him down as a contact for now, but i would love to work on this and move him up to agent down the line!
