Hi again Alison (and Kira, we're assuming)! Thanks for pursuing this. Let us know how you'd like to continue this, but here's the gist of what they'll find!

Following the burned path leads deeper into the forest – far, far deeper into the forest. The dead material smells of sulfur, and at some points be unbearable. The pathway takes them over rocks and across a stream or two, with any small signs of life quickly darting out of the paths. The ominous feeling of being watched will follow them the whole way, accompanied by odd movements in the brush and canopy, loud, indiscernible animal calls. They are not wanted. Eventually, there will be a grove filled with still water. The grove is dim and ghastly quiet. Not even the scuttle of any reptiles or insects can be heard. The foreboding feeling follows, and shadows of deformed wildlife will begin to crawl through the trees: pygmy marmosets with dilated eyes and wide mouths, deformed arachnids of large size supporting animal-like eyes and claws, and reptiles with hard shells and poisonous venom – each will be unique, but all will have gold eyes and varying numbers of pupils, and none will be happy see them! They'll attack aggressively and without provocation. These smaller creatures might be easy to bat away, but their bites are painful.

In the distance, between two large oak trees, is a shadow of a creature slumped backward, ape-like, furry, and with large antlers. The creature, with more of a solid form and glowing, gold eyes, will attack the group relentlessly. If they decide to stay, they'll have to figure out a way to fight off not only the smaller deformed animals attacking them, but the larger one that's decided to join them!

Please let us know what the group would do from there!
