EVENT 006

> EVENT #006

Midway through December 12, no matter where they are or what they're doing, all of the Displaced find themselves transported to another world with only the clothes on their backs. It's not apparent how this happened, or how they got where they are now. When they arrive, grouped up together, they find themselves in a laboratory room with a sign on the wall: Project Spinetail: Arrival Station. White walls, tiled floors, and a hint of familiarity: for anyone who had been present during the Dreamscape Event, they'll find that they're finally in a facility that is like the underwater one from before. Where they are is definitely not underwater, but the similarities are there.

Another thing the characters will quickly notice is that they are picking up on the thoughts of the other Displaced around: The characters have telepathy. This does not make their chests glow. As they become aware of this, they will be able to limit sharing their thoughts until it's voluntary, much like sending a message via text message is when they utilize the neural implant.

Before long, a woman walks into the room. She's holding a clipboard somewhat defensively, nervous, though there is an imposing guard accompanying her.

"I'm sorry for the abrupt arrival, but getting you here was urgent. My name is Angelica Crane, and I'm the lead scientist for Project Spinetail. I know that bringing you here with no warning, against your wills is unfair, but this was the only way to speak with you—and to save you. I confess, we seek salvation for ourselves as well. Our world is new and growing; we don't know how we came to be, but we know we're in danger of disappearing. We have studied the world you've come from, and we know that it's dying. There is no helping that world—but ours has a chance to survive. We believe that you may be the key to that. We want to work with you to harness the energy inside of you and find a way to help this world. We've been watching, and we think that energy will be what saves us. Saves our city, our world, and our families.

We won't force you. We can't force you. But please, there's nothing you can do for that other world, and there is so much good you can do here. You can make this world real. Let us show you our world. After that, we'll make our real pleas. We hope that you'll understand why we went to such extremes."

Then it's time to see the shimmering city of Zerzura. Zerzura is a marvel: all of the buildings are beautiful and made out of limestone. They're tall, scaling high into the sky, just like they do in New Amsterdam, but the architecture is a blend of modern and Greco-Roman in appearance. The city itself seems as if it's ruled by this Project Spinetail. There are flags on lamp posts throughout the city bearing the gray bird with a hint of orange, known as a spinetail. The air outside is temperate: no humidity, and no rain. Air quality right now is perfect, with zero signs of the pollution that ravaged the world that the Displaced traveled from. Zerzura is a beautiful and lively city: as they walk through the city, the Displaced will see happy families, many with multiple children.

The tour ends at these parks, and the Displaced will be left to explore the city at their own liberty. The inhabitants of the city will be respectful, but admiring the Displaced with looks of open wonder.

Before they return to Project Spinetail, the Displaced will see propaganda about their arrival. Already, many large screens on buildings around Zerzura show broadcasts talking about the Displaced. Even if they haven't agreed to help, there is clear pressure to do so. "They will save our world, they will make our world flourish and grow. They will give us a future." Videos play of the Displaced in New Amsterdam: flying toward the pyramid, working in New Tokyo, rescuing people from fallen cars, and working together to fight monsters. Here, the Displaced are the heroes. Perhaps they really can save this world.

> THE OBJECTIVE

Yet utopias are never what they seem to the naked eye. The problem with Zerzura is that much of the life there is very real. There really is perfect air quality and a complete lack of pollution, and they lack any of the fixes in place—like what's outside of this world in New Amsterdam—to make these things possible. Everything about Zerzura is just as it seems. Except for the choice they've been given.

The Displaced have been brought to Zerzura in hopes that they agree to save it, but there is a catch: if they save Zerzura, they will destroy the world outside. Earth as many people know it in Meadowlark isn't doing well, especially after Cassius' destructive EMP and virus. According to the scientists, the world of new Amsterdam is slated toward doom, but does that mean it should be abandoned, and even accelerated, toward its fate?

What the scientists do not tell the Displaced is that there is a group called Nautilus who is opposed to their efforts to save Zerzura. According to Nautilus, Zerzura is not a real, naturally formed world, and therefore doesn't deserve to survive. Additionally, sacrificing Zerzura may be the key to saving the world of Meadowlark. The Displaced will need to meet with both the scientists and this opposing force to figure out what they must do.

At the end, there will be one of three outcomes:

> OUTCOME A: END ZERZURA, SAVING THE EARTH OF MEADOWLARK

This is the default ending of the event. This will happen if no one does anything or if all other attempts fail. Nautilus has a plan in motion that will be done within a month's time. It will destroy Zerzura, but there is a good chance of this helping the Earth as the Displaced know it.

> OUTCOME B: SAVE ZERZURA, ENDING THE EARTH OF MEADOWLARK

This ending will be the most difficult to achieve, and will require the PCs intentionally pushing for this outcome. In order to get this ending, they will need to stop Nautilus from ending Zerzura and find a way to maintain Zerzura by working with the scientists to end life outside of it.

> OUTCOME C: SAVE BOTH MEADOWLARK'S EARTH AND ZERZURA

In order to achieve this outcome, the characters will need to find the link between Meadowlark's Earth and Zerzura, tap into it, and work together.

> THE TWO POWERS

There are two forces working against one another in Zerzura: the scientists representing Project Spinetail and the rebel force called Nautilus, who display some very familiar symbolism that's appeared on the shrines. These individuals will signify their presence in Zerzura via symbols on buildings, giving people clues to how they might be able to find them. These rebels will be very interested in speaking to the Displaced, and won't make finding them difficult.

> PROJECT SPINETAIL (GOVERNING BODY)

Project Spinetail is the governing force in Zerzura. Many people in Zerzura work for Spinetail in some way: they lead all construction projects, own all of the businesses, and are behind all of Zerzura's journalistic endeavors. The governor of Zerzura is the actual leader of Project Spinetail: James Henries. He's a charismatic, erratic man. He appears on Zerzura-wide broadcasts regularly: he smiles a lot, but speaks in bold, bombastic terms, seeming as if there may be a few screws that are loose. However, all of the scientists at Spinetail call him a "genius" and a "visionary." He's the one who thought up the plan to bring over the Displaced.

They don't fully understand the blue energy in the Displaced, but they have guessed that it's important in some way. They aren't in the least bit spiritual, believing that the Displaced are likely involved with their world's creation and maintenance in some way. They want to understand this, and encourage the Displaced that staying in Zerzura is what's right for them and the people of Zerzura.

In order to assert their dominance against the upstart Nautilus, they have a force of guards called the Myceneans. The Myceneans are a specialized group that acts as the police force for Zerzura, keeping peace and largely solving petty crimes. They are also dangerous: specially trained, they are a difficult group armed with chemical and biological weapons to act against any members of Nautilus.

> NAUTILUS (REBEL GROUP)

Nautilus opposes everything that Project Spinetail represents. These are the fanatic followers of The Blue God, the one who created civilization as they know it in Zerzura. They believe that the Blue God would never want to destroy the outside world. These rebels are deeply self-sacrificial in their fanaticism: they believe that Zerzura needs to die, because it's an unnatural world, and not the true world of the Blue God.

The members of Nautilus exhibit their worship in a number of ways. They have tattoos of unique and now familiar symbols covering their arms, they act against Spinetail to cripple their expansion, and they disseminate information in Zerzura to help the people of that world understand who will be hurt if they try to survive. Much of their dissemination of information is done via postings around the city, pieces of paper stapled to electrical poles so people can know the staggering cost of survival: the death of a world full of billions of people.

Needless to say, this behavior makes Nautilus incredibly unpopular. As it is, they do have a plan to end Zerzura in a month's time. This plan will work unless the Displaced find a means to stop them.

> LIVING IN ZERZURA

Despite its desire to live, Zerzura isn't a very large world or city: its boundaries make for a perfect rectangle. However, as time passes, Zerzura's lead scientists have discovered that the borders have been steadily expanding, offering the city more space over time. During the time the Displaced are there, they will also see these borders expand into a richer, more complex world.

Of course, time itself is a unique factor in Zerzura. While it seems to flow in a coherent, forward-moving fashion, the Displaced may come to realize that Zerzura is related to the Dreamscape, and a reflection of some aspects of it brought to life. Project Spinetail will bear an uncanny resemblence to the underwater facility from the Dreamscape. Zerzura itself looks far older than only a few months old. It is a small civilization, but a thriving one full of happy people and life. This world may have manifested out of nothing, but it has a history stretching back decades, though confirming its exact age will be difficult.

◉ Technology in Zerzura is largely on the level of how things are in 2019. There are clean energy initiatives, conservation practices, waste management, and limits on resources and consumption that are mandated by the government, ensuring that they can never fall into the same trappings of the world that's parallel to this one.
◉ Nothing flies, and there is no movement outside of Zerzura. The people of Zerzura respect and understand that their world is a smaller one. All cars are electric, but are completely grounded. There is also an extensive streetcar system that moves through the city, giving its citizens easy access to any other part of town.
◉ There is no wealth disparity in Zerzura. Money is in credits like it is on Meadowlark's Earth. Everyone is economically on the same level, receiving a basic income, except that the scientists have a lot more leverage. It seems that even the rebels started on the same foot. The Displaced will also receive this income.
◉ Everyone in Zerzura is a vegan. All food is developed in highly advanced hydroponic farms that are located on rooftops around the city. There is a large variety of food, and scientists have even developed a means to grow coffee. Enjoy your caffeine!
◉ While in Zerzura, characters will be given rooms in a dormitory that's connected to Project Spinetail's headquarters. There is a cafeteria on the first floor of this dormitory that serves meals three times a day. The food is excellent.
◉ Recreational cannabis is also grown and legal, though only smoked through vapes.
◉ While in Zerzura, characters will have no access to the internet via their neural implant. They will be able to access their photos, but they won't be able to sync up their implants or access them like they would in their normal lives.
◉ Someone can walk from one side of Zerzura to the other side of it in one day. It's not very difficult to scale the entirety of this smaller world, though it will get somewhat bigger as time progresses.
◉ Outside of the humans, there are no animals in Zerzura—yet! It seems that the scientists at Project Spinetail believe that the expansion of their world will eventually include multiple species coming to life.
◉ Despite their fears of losing their world, everyone in Zerzura lives a happy, idyllic life. No one seems to fight or encounter any problems. In fact, the only "problems" appears to be the rather unusual Governor Henries who's rumored to get up to some highly unethical experiments—though there's no real proof of this—and the dangerous rebel group Nautilus. However, Henries has mandated that Nautilus gets as little attention and traction as possible.

> EVENT MECHANICS

◉ This event will take place over a period of a month IC.
It will not be a month for the players, as we want to give people an opportunity to explore the event, but not feel as if they have to play it out for a whole four OOC weeks. Top levels can show the transition of time and playing early/latter scenes in parallel is completely fine. Back in New Amsterdam, time will not move the same way, though the PCs won't know this. We want to give the characters enough time to explore Zerzura and take the actions they need. The primary focus is to let people do all the things they want to do, playing with every aspect of the event.

◉ Everyone's powers will be amplified.
Being in Zerzura will amplify characters' in-game powers. They will level up and branch out, giving someone an opportunity to explore the different lengths their powers may go.

◉ The empathy bond will work as usual.
Characters will still be able to experience each other's emotions when touching.

◉ All of the characters will have telepathy with each other.
Being in Zerzura will also amplify the Displaced's connection to one another. This will take the place of the Morningstar network (IE the network community), since the Morningstar Network will not exist in Zerzura. Basically, the network community is temporarily for telepathy conversations now, so it will retain the same form and function, but no Courier font (unless your character thinks in Courier). Characters can also communicate via telepathy elsewhere, keeping their conversations private and out of the eye of anyone in Zerzura.

◉ Zerzura will alter characters' identities over time to make them feel as if they were born as native OCs to this world.
The longer the characters are in Zerzura, the more they will begin to lose parts of themselves to the setting. This alteration will be a large part of why the event is taking place over an IC month as we want to give players the opportunity to play with this aspect of the plot. These altered identities will make them like native OCs to Zerzura, changing their perception of the world and each other. These identities will reflect some aspect of the characters' ideal outcome for themselves, and the world will mesh these identities with one another, creating character relationships. The Displaced all know one another, and as thus, it makes sense that they would be linked up to one another. Think of it as the Mirror of Erised or Marvel's alternate reality in House of M, allowing the characters to live out their fantasies. This alteration is meant to be a temptation to stay and save this world, potentially giving them something better than they had before. How long this takes is up to the player of the character, as we don't want to lock anyone into a hard transition. Some characters may be more susceptible than others.

While being absorbed by Zerzura, the characters may fade in and out, coming to and realizing what's happening to them before they're subsumed once more. In addition, some characters will be able to deny this fantasy entirely, which will act as an opt-out for anyone who's not interested in that aspect of the event. Native Zerzurans will also respond to any Displaced under the effect as if they were natives.

◉ Releasing the characters from the fantasy.
At some point, your character may become completely lost in the fantasy of Zerzura, losing touch with their former identity, and they will need to be brought back to themself by another PC. Much like in the rage sickness event, PCs can free them by touching them and can discover that it works similarly here. When a PC touches an affected character, an object will begin to protrude from the afflicted character's glowing chest, and the PC can then pull the object out. The object itself can be anything, but should symbolize something significant to the character being saved.

By holding another character's object, PCs will feel the essence and borrow the in-game power of the afflicted character. Once the object is manifested, handing it back to the afflicted character will return their identity and they will be permanently released from the fantasy.

These objects cannot be particularly technologically advanced. No guns or lightsabers! They should also be the size of something easily held in one hand.

◉ Work together on fantasies and personal chest objects.
Fill out the form below and make up your AUs together. We encourage you to use this opportunity to be creative with CR since relationships in the AU do not have to mirror the characters' lives outside of Zerzura. Also, you can develop plans for how to save one another, or even have corroborating objects. These objects will be accessible for everyone all throughout the event and also after this event, though characters will not be able to manifest their own chest objects without assistance yet.

◉ The form.
Please fill out this form and reply below! We encourage you to plan and discuss your AU backgrounds together, especially in order to develop new CR!

> NOTES

Once again, this event will take place over a period of an IC month, but that will eventually equate to three days on Meadowlark's Earth if they choose to return to it afterward. While the characters are in Zerzura, they will be missing from Meadowlark's Earth.

This event will run from in-game December 12 and, depending on IC action, end on in-game December 15.

Characters will not have access to the network throughout this event, but they will have access to telepathy and the ability to post to the network community for mass telepathy conversations.

There is one power level up available for this event, earned by turning in a thread of at least 5 log/action comments involving the object from someone's chest. They will either need to have the object pulled from their chest, or they will need to pull an object from someone else's chest. They will need to reach the 5 comments required by September 23 to be eligible. Submission will be handled on the wrap up post.

When the event is over, we will post an aftermath log in addition to the aftermath post so characters can deal with the consequences.

You'll notice that we have not given an OOC end date for this event. We designed this event as our one-year anniversary event for Meadowlark, and we want to give our players enough time to really dig into it. Our "planned" end date is August 31, but we want that to be flexible for an extension if more time is needed or wanted.

Finally, please ask any questions, propose any plots, and come up with any ideas about how you would like to proceed in the Questions Header below. We want to ensure that our log has all of the information you need to get to playing when it goes live on August 24. Don't hold back—while we have a very specific problem for the characters to approach and solve, we want you to be able to stretch your legs and enjoy both the AU side of this event and the morally complicated dilemma.

Name: Lan Wangji (still!)

AU Background: Lan Wangji hails from a prominent academic family and has continued that tradition (if a little unconventionally!) through his employment as a literature professor at a local college. He is well-known for his study, assessment, and interpretation of more archaic texts. In particular, his specialty is ancient Chinese poetry and philosophy. He is often cited as a source in literary circles and historical circles due to the thorough nature of his articles. Despite his otherwise quiet nature, Lan Wangji frequents other colleges for talks. People are usually surprised by the fact that he is able to produce any number of words for his studies, but more personal conversation seems difficult for him. Regardless, he's known throughout his home college as a tough, but fair professor. His classes are often packed and he has several student admirers, because it seems that he's actually quite good with younger individuals despite outward appearances.

More recently, he's been embroiled in some controversy about his interpretation of several texts. Many people insinuate that he's placed upon them too contemporary a perspective (including his own uncle), but it seems like Lan Wangji is taking it gracefully. He isn't a stranger to resistance. At least, that would seem considering his numerous scars. How did he get them? It's up to debate (and people do often debate it!).

Lan Wangji can also often be seen donating his time and ample resources to organizations that support childhood education, comfort, and enrichment. He's very inclined to support Wei Wuxian's endeavors as well, which involves the perpetuation of green energy and burials. Articles related to these studies are also often brought in and published, to no one's surprise.

As for perspectives: Lan Wangji isn't interested in "or." He believes in helping everyone and sees no reason that either side should be compromised. As such, he runs an "alternative" university press (or an underground press) to nudge through political pieces that support saving both (or Option C). This, of course, is to help influence public opinion. This adheres to his core characteristics, both within this AU and outside this AU.

Chest Object: Bìchén. Lan Wangji's sword is infamous throughout the cultivation world. Like all objects of particular value to cultivators, it holds some of Lan Wangji's spiritual energy and recognizes only himself as its master. Anyone who wields Bìchén will realize the following characteristics immediately: it is extremely heavy, the blade seems transparent and thin, and it exudes a cold energy. The hilt also bears various inscriptions.

Essence: Lan Wangji is righteous, but tempered. Lan Wangji acknowledges acutely that nothing is truly black or white, good or evil. He reserves judgement until he has the entire picture and does not participate in rumors or gossip. He upholds tenements that many other cultivators have discarded and genuinely strives to do what is good while simultaneously not falling victim to extremist ideology. Should anyone else touch Bìchén, chances are they will feel a compulsion to assist others no matter how small the task and will seek out ways to maintain what is good even if it goes against common perceptions.

Powers: Veracity/Truth Inducement. Lan Wangji is able to compel others to speak the truth. Think of it like Wonder Woman's lasso, only he's able to pull for it typically through touch. Resistance to the speaking the truth results in temporary mutism corresponding to the severity of the lie. So, have fun getting some answers? Go wild. Use it in part or in full, idc.

Name: Ojiro Juniper (this will also be the AU name)
AU Background: Sniper is a former gold-medal (or whatever equivalent) gymnast infamous for their mastery of banned and dangerous techniques. Currently they are running for governor on a platform of increasing civic involvement and freedom in this expanding world. They are known for their vivacious personality and charm, and their fierce love for Zerzura and its people. Some consider them to be a bit air-headed for politics, but they are well-beloved by the populace and are backing several very smart policies.

Chest Object: a sword.
Essence: Conviction. Holding this sword, everything you needs to do feels clear: there is no doubt in you, and you know you'll accomplish what you need no matter what. You feel like you could fight the world and win.

Powers: Somatic Puppetry (self-only). Ability to stop your wounds from bleeding and to use a broken limb as if it were healthy (it still hurts).

My plans for Sniper are loose right now since it will depend on the trajectory of the event over-all, but they are going to completely freak out about falling into the fantasy, which may push them to some drastic behavior such as stabbing themself as a reminder or destroying the world. They are going to be in and out of the fantasy a lot. With their powers fully developed, they will be quite formidable, able to physically control other people (within limits) and emotionally influence them.

Within the fantasy they will be highly opposed to Nautilus and intent on saving Zerzura at any cost. Outside of the fantasy, they will want to save New Amsterdam, also at any cost. I am open to having their object pulled.

Name: Jonathan Sims
AU Background: Jonathan will be a simple librarian, well-respected for his knowledge of the occult. He has colleagues and even friends that he trusts—perhaps even some assistants!!—and he has a cat. Or will, when they exist in this world.

Chest Object: a cassette recorder. No tape.
Essence: Knowledge seeker. You feel is compelled to seek answers, regardless of how unsafe or unkind the question might be.
Powers: Story compulsion. You can compel someone to tell "a story they would not normally share". What falls under this criteria is up to the character being compelled.

Jonathan will gravitate towards cultists because that's just how he is, but I don't have any strong plans besides cute CR and research for him. With his powers fully developed, he is going to be accidentally compelling people to tell him personal things a lot.

Name: Nill Klein
AU Background: Nill's fantasy AU life is going to be the Ultimate Teenage Experience, more or less. She never had a childhood, having been "born" at the age of 14, and spent most of her time around adults after that. So she's going to go full teen: in her senior year of high school, on a sports team (probably track), smoking weed, possibly having a ~significant other. Parents have never been particularly important in her idea of the perfect life, but I'd be down for her to have fake relationships with older sibling types! Nill won't fall for the fantasy for very long, as she's just lost someone important to her in NA and she won't be able to ignore the pain of it, but she'll at least have a little bit of fantasy. I'm pretty open to anything, and will play this event by ear since technically I'm on hiatus this month. She will need someone to snap her out of the fantasy.

Chest Object: A KNIFE. This will serve to remind Nill of all the work she's put into making herself self-sufficient and snap her out of the fantasy.
Essence: Nill is full of determination to not be a burden to those around her. She has spent ~2 years learning how to take care of herself as well as new ways to help those around her. She's a girl who has lived through a bunch of awful shit, and still wants to help people.
Powers: Her power can be borrowed! Her power is density manipulation, currently limited to small objects/spaces (walls and floors) and decreasing the density of her own body, allowing her to phase through things.

Name: Diana Prince
AU Background: Diana is going to teach art theory/archaeology at the university, and also own a small gallery of her own! Honestly, if you want to know what her fantasy AU is, just watch this clip. Diana has always been kept down to earth by her sacred duty, and since leaving Themyscira has lived in near isolation and only done enough for herself to blend in with society. But in her fantasy AU, she's going to have what she wants but can never allow herself to have: a family. Diana has a gaggle of children, a mix of bio and adopted. There may be a significant other somewhere, but mostly she is going to love her family and friends to the utmost and be the scholar nerd she always thought she could be. She also teaches women's self-defense on the side as a pastime and mostly for exercise. I'm very open to any kind of relationships for this event! Again, playing by ear since I'm supposed to be on hiatus lolol. Diana will be stuck in the fantasy for a while, and will need someone to snap her out of it.

Chest Object: Steve Trevor's watch. It will remind her of not only the sacrifices she's made, but why she's made them.
Essence: Diana's "essence" would be her love of mankind and her determination to protect them/help people be their best selves, no matter the cost to herself.
Powers: Her power is inspiration manipulation, and it can be borrowed!

more double-checking than anything else:
- i assume chlorokinesis achieved through dreams will also be amplified while in zerzura?
- i assume it cannot be powered up via this event's power-up opportunity since it wasn't directly mentioned?

Name: Jiang Wanyin (still)

AU Background: Jiang Wanyin is from a prominent political family in Zerzura, but rejected the path expected of him ( namely, to go into politics ) to instead support Wei Wuxian and his "green" recycling project of the deceased. He does not really think much of this idea to be honest! Jiang Wanyin is not particularly given to caring much about the environment, but is happy to back whatever idea that Wei Wuxian may have upon the subject because he believes in his passion for eco-friendly sustainability.

What he discovered upon leaving the family support behind is that he is actually pretty good at gardening and agricultural-related projects - a green thumb, if you will. Out of the two of them, Jiang Wanyin is the more realistic one - he manages most of the day to day running of a florist shop attached to the garden, and also makes use of the vegetables grown and has a little side business of selling ~organic~ produce.

His AU background and his personality as he gets immersed more and more into the AU identity of being a native of Zerzura, he would attempt to hold onto the illusion and this would steer him toward backing OPTION B - however, due to CR influence and the moments of lucidity in between the illusions, he would eventually reject it entirely, backing OPTION A instead.

Chest Object: His object is Suibian, which is Wei Wuxian's spiritual sword from their original world! It is something that would only respond to its owner by responding to their spiritual energy, but it also seems to resonate with Jiang Wanyin as well?

Essence: Insecure, but defiant. The sword in hand, any sort of evidence of shortcomings or mistakes they have had made in their life ( big or small ) would come back to haunt them in mix of negative feelings like anger or frustration, even if it may not have been any major error in judgement. They would be compelled to brood over these incidents, until they can break out of that negative mindset somehow through internal or external influence.

Powers: Jiang Wanyin's power is poison generation triggered by skin contact, taking the form of nausea and headache and other various and sundry ( not lethal! ). It can be borrowed in any degree of such effects!

Hey mods! Just checking in re: Dr. Mind Powers over here

Just want to check in to find out if there are any limits you'd like to place on the amount of information any one character can gain access to from the NPCs in Zerzura?

Stephen's going to want to learn everything he can about both sides' knowledge, motivations, any secrets they're keeping, any thoughts they have on how things can be altered, hierarchies, anything they know about the nature of the Displaced/how their world has come into being etc before he makes a choice on who to help and how. Obviously that's A Lot of Stuff and it doesn't seem fair for him to be able to just swan in and collect it all thanks to the power amp so I'm going to need to limit the direction of his power amplification to make this less possible. I wanted to check how much access it would be okay for him to get so I can then work out which power routes to limit and which to amplify so he's not super OP for info gathering in this event.

Name: gaby teller (-parker)
AU Background: gaby is married to her long time sweetheart and very devoted husband, peter b. parker, and has lived a life free of war and cold war and she is happy with her life and their 2.5 children. it's gd idyllic. she'll be a scientist like her father and work for spinetail.

i would like someone to wake her up from this beautiful fantasy and upon waking gaby will be displeased and be firmly in the camp of OPTION A because it's already in motion. she can maybe be persuaded to OPTION C though she doesn't give much of a shit, let it die. she will use her in as a scientist to allow people access to the facility if they really want.

Chest Object: alexander waverly's gold signet ring, crest of the earldom of brinscote embossed on a blue field
Essence: determination; gaby is unwavering once she has started a particular path, steady and resolved.
Powers: cryokinesis; go fucking ham

Name: bobbi "katelin philips" morse
AU Background: probably gonna be something really wholesome and genuine and authentic blah blah married with a kid (probably marcos and silena respectively) .... and she'd either be an out and proud superhero (do they have superheroes in this au) or .... i dunno, something action-y or maybe she'll own a bar or idk

ALSO she's definitely going to go by bobbi morse, no codename

Chest Object: ??? I DUNNO YET
Essence: the core of bobbi morse is that she'll do anything to be the shield that protects those who cannot protect themselves
Powers: emotional manipulation

I would love to start some CR with Diana if you have time during the event! Sniper has very intense, personal involvement with the concept of helping humanity become its best self, which is going to show a lot in the AU. They'll be an ex-jock politician as opposed to their real life vocation as a political assassin so I would love for them to be in Diana's self-defense class.

Jonathan's a librarian specializing in the occult, so he's also a scholar nerd if you're interested in a connection there.

JYN won't be under the au fantasy zanadu thrall so she will be out here investigating the facility in particular because of the familiarity of the dreams. she Does Not trust this world at all but is still leaning toward OPTION C (because the default is option a and if that happens it happens) because she wants to find the connection between the worlds.

she is available to shake people back to reality if need be.

Name: Clarke Griffin
AU Background: Married to Octavia, the two of them are the mothers of Madi Griffin, their adopted daughter. Clarke is a community leader who makes a lot of demands out of Project Spinetail, but does believe in their goal to do anything for their people at any cost. That means the lives outside of Zerzura. Given her tendency to make those decisions, it will be hard to break her out of the fantasy.

Job-wise, she's an artist. As the month passes, more and more of her sketches will be up around Zerzura, bare and simple, but lifelike with a lot of meaning behind them.

People I'm Seeking For Her: Artist friends! People who also have children and they can bond over child care! People who will also pester Project Spinetail! People who, in their AU, also believe in saving Zerzura at any cost.
Chest Object: A small computer chip called The Flame. It won't function like the Flame does in canon, but it's the tie between the two most important people in Clarke's life (outside of her mom, dad, and Bellamy).
Essence: A leader who's weighed down by the actions she's had to take - there's a great deal of guilt and pragmatism in there, along with the need to do whatever she needs to help her people survive. She does want to do better, but it rivals with what she's done before.
Powers: Life steal - the object will grant the user the ability to steal energy away and heal one's self while they hold on to it. The other powers won't be available at this time!

Name: Riku
AU Background: Riku will not be giving over to the fantasy, but he'll have an AU background! Riku will be a jock who's always happy to play second fiddle to his best friend, Sora. He's the moral support, the one who's willing to do everything necessary to help other people shine. He's the son of Peter B. Parker.

Things to Figure Out: Who are Riku's friends? I'd also like him to be dating someone (or a bunch ... of people ... because it's hilarious). What sport is he playing? Who does he play moral support to? Who does he go to school with? The works!

Name: Goro Akechi
AU Background: As a child prodigy, Akechi has always been ahead of the curve. He graduated high school and then college at a very young age, and now he makes his name as a young, celebrity detective who works in tandem with the Myceneans. What crimes does he try to solve? Probably mostly having to do with Nautilus, who he's staunchly against because their sense of justice is messed up.

At eighteen, he lives in a swanky two bedroom apartment with his boyfriend, Ren Amamiya. He has a lot of colleagues who respect him and revere him, and he's trusted to do the detective work he's meant to do.

He listens to a lot of jazz music and shows off playing billiards in his spare time, and he's also a foodie.

Things to Work Out: Who knows him and Ren? Who wants to be their friends? Who wants to run a rival food blog? Who wants to judge his music tastes?

Chest Object: A saber.
Essence: Inquisitive young man with an abandonment complex that makes him angry at the world and its corrupt systems. He accepts the corruption of the world, though, and just believes that it might be better to say "screw it" to it all and wipe it out. Nihilistic, then, but with a lot of passion and emotion. Desperate to be loved. Believes all relationships are give and take, with no true selflessness in existence.
Powers: Mental inducement: at its current stage, he can induce berserking in someone for five minutes.

heliophilous: (【NINETY FOUR】)

[personal profile] heliophilous 2019-08-15 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: marcos diaz
AU Background: married with children, obviously (to bobbi, it looks like, with silena as a kid. omg young parents). he's so, so big into being a better dad than his own father was and that's what he ultimately wants: a quiet life where everyone's safe. he'll have some kind of blue collar, work with his hands job (carpenter or construction or something) and he'll be content with his life.

when he gets himself pulled out of the au, he's obviously gonna super super disoriented but he'd also go for option c because, again, he wants to do what's best for everyone even if it's impossible.

Chest Object: his rosary
Essence: dedication to helping those people that are often discriminated against and ignored. there's also probably some vague hints of darkness in there that he tries to keep down.
Powers: fear manipulation; feel free to steal
kgbs: (T W E L V E)

Name: illya kuryakin
AU Background: teacher of kids in one of the local schools. someone who wears sweaters and glasses and looks more intimidating than he is. he'll be the guy that stays after to help you out and comes in early and makes up for his lack of a social life with throwing himself into a rewarding work environment.

he'll be friendly and engaging when someone talks to him but shy and not seeking out people on his own. when pulled out of the au, in addition to dealing with angst about forgetting his life, he'd probably lean towards option a.

Chest Object: his dossier
Essence: proving to others that he is enough, that he's worthy of being the man he gives the impression of being.
Powers: anger empowerment; if you wanna become a kool aid man when you get angry, you can steal!
