Hey, establishing communication is half the battle!
To differentiate herself from the runners, Cheris not going to be involved in the runs themselves. She's assigned to security detail, so she'll be snagging any of the civilians who the Displaced are replacing/letting off the hook from their supply run duties and organizing them independent of the runs. She won't be forcing them to "get back out there", but instead will be addressing the source(s) of their fears and trying to see what can be done about their concerns. She likes people, and she's also very good at stripping them down to their bare parts psychologically.
She'll be working with Clarke on this, to try and to help them overcome their fears by giving them anecdotal experiences of her own (with the servitors! yay, sentient tech friends!) in order to convey that while Judas is an example of an AI that has done humanity harm, not all intelligence is like that. Not all intelligence is made or develops or has to become the next Judas. She'll divulge her own existence as an individual not from Earth OR the colonies, which means also telling them who she is -- and for the record, she will be "introducing" herself as Jedao, not Cheris. She's still trying to maintain her cover as Jedao, since she hasn't canon-updated to a point where that secrecy is no longer necessary.
I think what she'll need to accomplish this is: a direction of where to find these people/someone to bounce off of (she'll be looking to Clarke to collaborate on this part, to point out the "who") and a way to try and get this process to support Rey's pursuit of Ricky Ling. Pursuing Ricky Ling's presence might help cement the idea that the people cannot wait around for history to repeat itself (ie. Riverstone's rising) and need to exercise their own agency. But, I'll reach out to Tifa FIRST before developing/asking for further info on this part. :9
I don't know how far it'll go, and honestly, the spread of "combating the fear" from the people she mentors to as many of the other civilians in the simulation might even be one of the things I submit as Cheris's way of dealing with the simulation for phase one. ALSO, let me link this comment to Gee and the crew first to make sure that this won't muck with the runners and their goals as well! EDIT: Gee says this is fine, so hurrah!
