MARCH 2021 CALENDAR
IMPORTANT OOC NOTES
◉ Before we get going, we're going to mention that there are a lot of updates on this month's calendar, as well as a number of player plots we're covering within the IC updates section. If you have any questions, you'll see that we have a new Questions section. Feel free to hit us up there!
◉ Our February Activity Check is up. We're well aware that February has proven to be a rough month for a lot of our players. Don't hesitate to take a retroactive hiatus if you need.
◉ Applications are now open for business! We're at 56/60 players, and app acceptances will go out on March 10th.
◉ That said, we have a new TDM with some interested players who need funtimes and samples! Give it a looksee if you have the opportunity.
◉ We've made a few minor updates to our Plot Engagement page. Our primary focus is to make sure that everyone knows they don't need a fully fleshed out plot before they come to us. Even if you're not sure where to start, you can hit up Plot Engagement with interest. From there, we can begin to talk to you about any setting specifics, as well as what might interest you. We'd like for everyone to see our Plot Engagement page as more of an informal conversation.
◉ However, we're well aware that that's more easily said than done! On each calendar moving forward, we'll have a Questions thread available. Have any questions about our announcements? Want to give some feedback? We'll even use the calendar to ask for feedback from our players. More on that below!
◉ Along those same lines, we'll be adding a single Questions header to each CR meme every month. This is meant to facilitate plots quickly like our previous Rapid Plot Engagement. This is meant to be an additional outlet to ask questions to get RP flowing before hitting up Plot Engagement itself. We hope this will be a nice middleground to further open up communication between the mods and players.
◉ We've updated our mod duties a little bit. Jenny will be taking over all of our upkeep of lists in the game starting in March, while Veronica will be backing up Alison more on all of our major metaplot and events. We've updated this on our Mod Contact page. While we sometimes shift duties around temporarily, this is more of a permanent change to help us manage our various mod responsibilities.
◉ We added a long-needed Neural Implant section to our Setting. Keep in mind that this is more of a living document and can always be updated. If you're ever not sure about something that we've referenced, let us know. Hit us up on the FAQ.
◉ Our next event will be a North America trip! We're still working out the specifics on our end, though a lot of the logistics for getting there will be determined by the characters. If you'd like to get in on that planning, hit up Thor's post. We're aiming to have a plotting post up on March 22, 2021, though that date may be delayed pending IC movement.
◉ Our next Arrival Log will be our second Anime Naexpo, an anime convention held in downtown New Amsterdam.
◈ Down below under our questions thread, we'd like some ideas for this year's hot anime. As a note, the Displaced won't be inspiring this year's anime ideas, but they will be for our third Anime Naexpo for sure. That said: we do want there to be a hot new battle royale anime—possibly one that indirectly influenced the consciousness of the world. If you have any ideas, drop them below!
◈ Despite not influencing the anime itself just yet, Displaced will be welcomed at the convention for free—as long as they put on panels about themselves. Want your character to be featured at a panel? Drop a brief description below, and we'll include it on the Arrival Log.
◈ All of these submissions are due by March 10, 2021 so we can fit them into the log easily!
◈ Aside from anime, is there anything else you'd like to see? Since we have canonical furries in Meadowlark's world, we definitely won't be forgetting them this time.
◉ Ian Fowler (wittingly) will be updating the hover bike garage safehouse for the foreseeable future. As a result, all incoming characters will be housed in the Red Wings safehouse (under the bar) until construction is completed. We're thinking that construction will be done by our May 2021 Arrival Log. If you'd like to help Ian with his project, hit up his post here! The Red Wings safehouse is, as far as we know, also full of cannabis plants. Let us know if there are any other things hanging out down there that we need to factor into the upcoming Arrival log.
◉ We're going to be using Jimmy Henries and his positive relationship with New Amsterdam's governor, Joseph Lynch, as a plot device to help facilitate further character entrenchment in the New Amsterdam community. He has a lot of money, time, and resources that he can use to help—especially since he's out of favors in other places. Jimmy will be reaching out to Stephen Strange, Eugene Hicks, Nate Drake, and Jyn Erso in this upcoming month to start communication, but it won't be hard to convince Jimmy to talk to the entire Displaced community. It's just that he was advised to take it slow.
◉ We still have a few hanging plots from our Event #011 Wrap Up, namely: the Colonies and the Kestrels. We know there is interest in both because we've heard about it in unofficial capacities, but we need you to officially register interest on Plot Engagement so we can get the ball rolling. All we need is a "hey, I'm interested!" to do so.
◉ We're going to table our plot AMA for the time being while we plan out the North America event and try these new questions headers for feedback, since we think they're closer to what players were looking for. We were having a hard time fitting it into the monthly calendar without overloading ourselves, so we think this is the best idea for the moment. If you're still interested in a plot AMA, let us know down below. We'll schedule it at a later date!
WEATHER: Still hot, humid, and annoyingly tropical, New Amsterdam isn't looking to cool off anytime soon. The worst part is there's no rain. The temperature is ranging around the low 90s with evenings not offering much of a reprieve. It probably would be a good idea to pick up a baseball cap to support the New Amsterdam Koniki to cover your head from unwanted UV rays. The environmental system around the world can only do so much to help stabilize the city.
NOTABLE NEWS:
◉ With how hot it is still in New Amsterdam, water rationing is still in effect around town. In an effort to keep people cooled down during these times, Joseph Lynch suspends all maritime movement on the New Amsterdam River for the foreseeable future, making it a permanent swimming hole for the people of New Amsterdam. Any and all boats on the river should be moved on shore by September 19, 2512. Keep in mind that there are fish in that water—but there is nothing dangerous that could endanger someone for jumping right in, save maybe a carp to nibble on some toes.
◉ Since swimming is looking to be less of a once-a-year thing in New Amsterdam, there are public service job advertisements out for swimming instructors. Given the Displaced's unique qualifications, they may be good for a job like this!
◉ Giles Bell announces a new program that will be available starting in 2513: face masking technology that places a holographic mask over people's faces as they move through society. Ian Fowler is announced as the engineer behind it. There are multiple press releases about the benefits of this technology, as well as multiple assurances that no one will be able to use this technology for any wrongdoing.
◈ Since Anime Naexpo is right around the corner, con goers, especially cosplayers, are super excited about the announcement of this technology. Imagine not having to build a hot and suffocating mask to finish off a costume?
◉ Yennefer (perhaps best known as: former Cardinal in the Aerie to the people of New Amsterdam) will begin appealing to various disaffected wealthy young people around New Amsterdam in order to give them a new place to belong. This is the first step to Yennefer gaining a cult-like following around New Amsterdam. Want to get in on that? Go ahead and hit up Yennefer (angerberg).
◉ Remember the guy with the bird on his chest? Now that Damian Wayne is back and up to his vigilante business, various social media reports come out that Birdman is back around town. No one knows where he went, though some have guessed that he may have been injured going into the Aerie, only to come out feeling better. Some forums will dive into a few very out there conspiracy theories about hidden caves and supervillains, but who knows!
◉ Did you know that Loki writes erotic novels? Yep, he does. His next work is something a little different: a book about his time in the Aerie as a Cardinal. While it's currently incomplete, Loki will be releasing Confessions of a Cardinal in either late October 2512 or early November 2512.
◉ Restaurants are still looking for some temporary employees! While some places are doing better, others are looking into exploring more farming (hydroponic and otherwise) around their establishments. Got a green thumb and want some free meals for the foreseeable future? Check this out.
◉ The UN Investigation Task Force is in the field. Ever had an odd job around the city? Ever participated in the fighting rings? It seems like this force is out and about and asking questions about previous interactions with the Displaced. They'll be in plain clothes around the fighting rings looking for evidence of weird powers in play. Since these field agents are all former Shrikes from the Aerie, feel free to recognize them if you could know who they are. They'll be looking for informants.
◉ The UN begins releasing propaganda about the colonies. Rather than trying to put down their independence, they start remarking about how they would love to help the colonies feel a little more like the megacities on Earth. How can they help? And who's willing to help? It's their way of trying to take control of the colonies. Of course, Cassius and El won't be convinced by these efforts.
DROPS: Sam Drake, Eames, Glimmer, Aiuenobrist Quintalian, and Tewksbury all disappeared in the last two weeks.
