Hello everyone! I am Liv and I am bringing in Catherine Chun from the atmospheric sci fi horror game SOMA.

She's an artificial intelligence engineer from a post-apocalyptic future Earth who decided to scan herself and become a digital human program. Don't worry, she made a detailed, extremely realistic virtual reality for herself and all the other digital humans to inhabit in the wake of the human race being decimated on Earth.

It's a beautiful perfect plan with no flaws, thank you.

I AM HAPPY TO BE HERE altho Catherine will not be happy to be human, that sucks and is lame. Feel free to friend me on plurk at chirality for plotting purposes.

Catherine needs friends pretty badly but also does not understand this concept of her having friends. Pls send help.

My name is Jen and I play Markus from Detroit: Sad Robots, and I’m pretty sure this is CR that I require immediately. I offer him up to the altar of friendship, even if he’s gonna aggressively side-eye her canon yikes.

hands to cheeks YES PLEASE I am dying for this CR. SOMA as a canon is all about moral ambiguity and questions of what makes someone human and whether a smart enough machine also counts as human. It doesn't actually try to answer these questions, it just makes you think about them and cry.

And don't worry, side-eyeing Catherine's choices is a friendship requirement. That will definitely not stop her from interrogating Markus about robots. ROBOTS. She will also be building robots while here despite the mods informing me it is highly illegal, because she makes great decisions.

Oh boy oh boy. Prepare to have long philosophical discussions about this with him. There is a lot to talk about regarding humanity and how it applies to synthetic life/AI, and ALSO what to do about these squishy human bodies.

Oh no, Catherine is not going to have long philosophical discussions. She will more-or-less tolerantly listen to them. I might be getting a castmate next month, Simon, the protagonist who spends the whole game doing this sort of philosophical spit-balling while Cath tries to impatiently get him to do the next quest item... but she will absolutely complain every single day about stupid human bodies because SHE MADE HERSELF A VIRTUAL REALITY TO ESCAPE HERS AND HERE SHE IS WITH IT AGAIN?? excuse

Detroit is much more advanced in tech than SOMA is, so to Markus her robots will probably seem to have, like, dog-level intelligence and be about as cute. LOL Catherine builds industrial application & general helper robots, nothing sketchy or violent. At least she has that going for her.
