CALENDAR JULY 2019
IMPORTANT OOC NOTES
◉ Please refer to our Aftermath Post for all things pertaining to the end of the event! We've already expressed our gratitude, but we're happy to repeat it again: thank you for embracing this event so much! The scope itself was a lot narrower from our side and more or less reliant on what it was that the players wanted to do, so we can happily say that you all rose to the occasion.
◉ In a move that we realize we should've made months ago when we changed AC, we'll be bumping app processing to the 8th instead of informing appers after AC closes that they might be accepted. We feel this makes a lot more sense! We'll be applying this change immediately moving forward.
◉ We've made some edits to the plot engagement page! The first of which is a request regarding social media in New Amsterdam (and Meadowlark's overall world). The moderators aren't familiar with social media trends, habits and celebrities, but social media is a very common in Meadowlark's world and used by 90% of the world's population (with obvious exceptions like the UNA soldiers, who are a noted minority in terms of numbers). We're no longer going to review social media counts, and we ask that all social media requests involve proposed plots.
◉ The other edit is to ask for more summaries regarding the threads that you submit. While we love seeing the context for things, it will help speed up turnaround if we know precisely what it is from a thread that you're hoping to draw our attention to!
◉ We're also aiming to have all plot engagement responses go out every Sunday. Anything that comes in on Sunday will be responded to the next Sunday! This is to help the mods manage their workloads, and to create a transparent turn around system!
◉ We have made a post for Morningstar, and have transferred over all of the information from Ellie and Laura's amazing post! You can see this new post here! We want to make sure that none of the information about Morningstar is buried or unclear, so feel free to throw any questions in that direction!
◉ Optimistically, we hope to have a complete Setting Update by August 18th, which is the anniversary of our very first event in game. We're going to be working on transferring a lot of important details that we've shared on plot engagement and on the FAQ to the Setting page. We've referenced wanting to do this a couple times, but now we're giving ourselves a hard deadline to keep ourselves accountable to all of you!
◉ We've also made revisions to our FAQ, profile pages and premise to acknowledge that Meadowlark is more of a plot-heavy open-world game! This change is in part because of the heavy engagement that we've had from our playerbase from the very beginning.
◉ We've added all of the dates from the aftermath post to the calendar below, so it's easier to use as a reference! We hope this helps flesh out the calendar and helps everyone visualize it, too!
◉ We added an inbox to our El journal here! We wanted to make El more accessible since ze won't ever be available for in person meetings.
◉ Finally, Cassius' post will only remain active until tomorrow evening! If you have anything you'd like to follow up on, please hit our plot engagement post! We've had a lot of fun with this leg of the plot, and we promise that there are many more reveals to come.
WEATHER: Extremes and rapidly fluctuating, with reports of poor air quality. Temperatures range from 90 during the day to 40 in the evening, with sporadic thunderstorms and occasional hail – it will be fine one moment and storming the next, with no real indication of when the shift will happen. The only constant is a thick humidity that's unabated by the storms.
NOTABLE NEWS:
◉ In the wake of everything that's happened in New Amsterdam, the fighting rings return to normal. The championship bouts are over, and now they're back to their normal business. There will be some new faces showing up – but some old faces that were known in the rings have disappeared. It may be safe to assume that they were casualties of the effect of the EMP.
◉ Remember the Harvest Festival? Well, it wasn't that long ago. In the wake of the tragedy, the people behind this festival set up booths with their wares all throughout the city. These will be hubs for charity work, and they'll be offering jarred vegetables, fruits and sauces to everyone for half the price! They want to help people get the food that they need.
◉ Despite – or because of – the recent tragedies in the city, fans of the different megacities' soccer teams pour into the city for the annual All Star Game. New Amsterdam had been chosen as the site for this event three years ago, and local politicians – excluding Gill-Jade, who's not in a condition to have a solid say on much of anything – firmly believe that this could provide a bolstering to the city's spirits. Well aware that they won't have places to live, local fans band together to try to find a place for these people to stay, hoping to show a widespread sentiment of hospitality.
◉ There are reports of an eclectic mix of animals with gold eyes making their way into the city. Many of these animals have too many limbs or feel as if they're an odd mish-mash of creatures. After reaching the city, they don't live for very long, seeming as if they rapidly age in a very short period of time.
