CALENDAR OCTOBER 2019
IMPORTANT OOC NOTES
◉ We want to give you a roadmap for the next few months. Our event this month starts at the tail end of the month, running until the end of November. The event itself will have a very open-ended plan, with us asking you what you want from the event at the very start. We'll put up the planning post for that on October 7th. Our primary goal is to give characters something new to handle in the form of an event, while ensuring that it doesn't prove to be overwhelming and instead helps with pursuing player plots. There won't be any newly introduced metaplot elements, instead focusing on what's been brought up before. After the event ends, we'll be heading into December, which will be an event-free month with only a check-in AC.
◉ We'll also be offering new players a bonus for getting involved in the event in October and November to help them get integrated into the game. This will depend on what they need to get involved, from designing a plot from the ground up for them to follow, to anything else!
◉ Leigh decided to step down as a moderator at the end of September. Thank you for your help for the last year, Leigh! Given the size of the game, we're going to see how we handle a three moderator team for the time being, but we'll let everyone know if we would like some extra help!
◉ In addition, Veronica will be out of the country for the first half of October, which means that we'll be running a two-mod ship! We'll do everything we can to be as timely with things as usual, but there may be some delays!
◉ We're going to experiment with closing applications after this upcoming October app round, opening reserves on October 24th and closing them on October 31st. Applications will open on November 1st and close on November 7th. We'll still process them on November 8th. We're also going to revise the test drive meme, but the new version won't be up until November (likely a few days before reserves open!).
WEATHER: New Amsterdam is still muggy in the daytime, with highs of 70, though it cools off a lot in the evening, hitting lows of 20. The rain continues, but the ground is slick in the morning, covered with ice from the freezing rain.
◉ We want to bring attention to our Morningstar page, especially since one of the bullet points down below refers to an ongoing Morningstar plot (or Morningstar-inspired plot).
NOTABLE NEWS:
◉ Public transit is back! After spending the past month working diligently around the clock—and fighting off the numerous plants invading and causing problems with the work—public transit is back up in New Amsterdam! In addition, travel in and out of the city is approved again (so no one needs to sneak out any back doors—unless they'd like to).
◉ There is still a leafy problem in New Amsterdam, and the city's plumbers are in a bit of a bind. While some volunteers are on the job, they could likely use some extra help. Of course, they could also use some help warding off the odd golden-eyed creatures that started showing up following the EMP in early November.
◉ What started as rumors about a violent altercation on Mars have turned into something that's now thoroughly confirmed. While official authorities tried to play whack-a-mole with the reports, they give up on January 1st. At this point, there are multiple social media accounts made in support of the Mars riots, as well as asking for additional help from Morningstar. While Morningstar hasn't been involved up to this point, it seems as if the uprising in Mars will give them an opportunity. They just need to take it. This is a plot that depends on player involvement—it started thanks to Displaced actions in the dreamscape. Of course, this will depend on a few other things opening up (such as easy travel to Mars, which is in the works with the gates), but we wanted to draw special attention to this!
◉ Many of these social media accounts begin to demand a response from United Nations leaders, as well as from the three leading gubernatorial candidates in New Amsterdam. As of early January, the line that all three will toe is that they're worried about the people impacted by the uprising on Mars. However, there are rumors that Durcell is revving up for a more boisterous message for the people on Mars.
◉ The first debate between Jovavich, Lynch, and Durcell is scheduled for February 5. The announcement of this debate will occur on January 2. For more information on these candidates, please visit our June calendar.
◉ In addition, thanks to his widespread charity work in December, Joseph Lynch is starting to threaten Katelin Jovavich in the polls. While many New Amsterdam citizens believe that Jovavich will prove to be the better politician, they overwhelmingly believe that Lynch actually cares about them. Many believe that Simone Durcell may currently be insincere in their efforts to run.
DROPS: Worick Arcangelo, Prompto Argentum, Poe Dameron, Dante, Markus and V disappeared over the past two weeks.
