EVENT 007 VOTING POST
Hello, Larkers! This is your voting post for the event. This post revolves around two points:
1. Whether the attempt to retrieve Judas will be a success.
2. Where Judas will end up after the fact.
For an idea of the consequences, Judas is a military AI that has been on a local, off-network quantum server in the UNA HQ for hundreds of years. He's had no outside interaction, and he seems to be fueling a lot of their technology (including the program ALIGN that turns the UNA soldiers into mindmelding individuals with a specialized formation instinct). Taking him away would gut the military arm of the world. However, giving him to Cassius would be potentially handing him over to an AI who's proven that he'll take countless lives. In addition, there is no way of knowing if giving Judas over to El will revolve reneging on the deal with Cassius—and there's no real way of knowing for sure that El, whose actions started the AI-Human War, has friendly intentions in taking Judas back. With all that in mind, Judas was instrumental in nearly ending humanity during that war, while El has spent that time pulling together resources to create Morningstar: the only successful anti-capitalism, anti-UN rebel group for the past 450 years.
A few notes to keep in mind:
◉ The overall preference for how the event ends will be based on what you want to see OOCly, rather than what your characters would like ICly. For example: Gaby would like to see the device holding Judas destroyed immediately, removing him from the world. But OOCly, Gaby's player would like to see what chaos could ensue from giving Judas over to Cassius.
◉ There is only one vote per player!
◉ We'd like a brief summary of what your character is doing during this event. New characters are welcome to take part! Please do, in fact! If your character is just visiting the base and stealing food, that's still of note. This will help us figure out where characters' priorities were during the event. For instance, in our UNA event last January, we were able to use the plotting comments and IC prioritization to figure out which aspects of the event would be ultimately successful. The plotting is looser around this event, so we'd like to essentially get those short summaries delivered to us so we can write a summary.
◉ Please feel free to have your character throw a wild card into the mix that might be harder to RP out, but will have some amazing consequences. We can't promise that it will be visible in the aftermath—that ultimately depends on the vote itself!—but we think it would be fun to toss it in if you have any ideas.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: Rey is focused on using her gravity power to prevent people from getting to the AI itself. To this end, she will use it to (a) try to keep the doors shut, (b) try to keep known Cassius deal-makers (and anyone in their company) from accessing the area where Judas is stored. She wants to prevent the bad decision. While this is going on, Rey will specifically use her implant to film some of what goes on with regard to fighting and defeating UNA soldiers, accessing the area where the AI is housed, etc. Enough to have proof that the UNA has been using an AI. She won't be distributing it yet or anything.
When prevention fails, Rey will be helping people make sure Judas goes with Ren/Akechi for El's purposes, and not to Cassius.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: diana will scope out the una base; until the day of the raid, she will keep a pretty low profile, mentally cataloging every entry/exit, soldier numbers, and any other relevant information. when the time comes for the raid, she won't be with the armored car group; she will go check out cassius' "distraction" to gauge the damage caused. when she realizes that nobody was killed, she'll head back to the base. but if an opportunity to get on to the base presents itself, she'll reach out to el for a scrambler mask and will try to back up those who went in on their way out. she herself will not want to handle judas; she only cares about getting people out safely and will use all means at her disposal to do so, including her abilities and her lasso.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: Wei Wuxian will be monitoring the Displaced from afar, to ensure that anyone who needs retrieval and/or a pick-up during or after the UNA base infiltration is properly picked up. He's trying to keep his hands as clean as possible, to protect anyone who didn't take Cassius's deal in case things go super south though - so, if anything happens that could lead the UNA back to the other Displaced, Morningstar or, worst of all: El, he will choose to leave the others to their fate and focus on anyone who did not go to UNA HQ, protecting them, moving them and hiding them from as much backlash.
Mostly he's busy looking into stuff with his castmates for their eventual Himalayas gate trip so jeopardizing that is NOT IN THE CARDS.
So, basically his priorities are, from greatest to least: Those Who Didn't Take The Deal > Himalayas research > Those Who Took The Deal.

He doesn't really care if people die as a result of Judas being returned as long as he himself does not. While he's not enthusiastic about genocide (and he's not exactly aware of Cassius' involvement in such an event), he has no personal attachment to this timeline/universe/etc.

If this means she has to turn her gun toward the displaced, she would, but at least she will be only aiming for kneecaps. As a hacker by trade, she will be trying to hack her way in.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: Peter, who had previously asked Illya to make him a "stealth suit" (for reference he basically looks like Peter does in Homecoming while wearing the Night Monkey outfit) and subsequently collected it on the train to New Beijing, will ditch the gun and shock stick almost immediately as he isn't keen on the idea of having to hurt any of the other Displaced just to stop them. Instead, he will be using his powers on anything reasonably small enough to create rubble and obstacles to hamper the Displaced's progress toward Judas.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: beating up soldiers and shocking them unconscious, not killing anyone, attempting to hack into the encrypted drive before getting annoyed and electrocuting the damn thing to force her way inside, arguing with people a whole lot. i'm not sure who has possession of cassius' drive but daisy would absolutely protect them if needed to ensure they were successful. she's the most driven of my characters to Get Shit Done and has the most on the line. in all honesty, daisy would probably electrocute another displaced if it meant accomplishing the mission. sorry not sorry.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: He likely supplied a little bit of information he may or may not have gathered using his own abilities. Otherwise, he likely gave information over about the UNA (as noted on the post). He would have gone into more detail if anyone asked him directly (at least those intending to steer others away), because Lan Wangji is incapable of lying. He would have strayed away from his own feelings on the matter (re: the deaths and how it inevitably impacted Wei Wuxian as well), but he would have mentioned the ruthless nature of the UNA.
He also might have played people a song or two leading up to the actual raids, because he's Like That. Otherwise, he absolutely spent the rest of the time making sure his cultivation partners were safe. Don't touch me.

Preference Two: No strong preference. I trust the mod team to come up with something interesting and fun for the game no matter what ends up actually happening. It seems like a bit of a bad decision roulette no matter what you pick, lmao. I'd be interested in seeing what happens if Judas actually does get given to Cassius just because so many characters have been so up in arms about it, but I don't know if that's actually my preference, lmao. Sorry I can't be more decisive.

The original idea was to see if he could use his power of mental healing to calm Judas down, though that isn't actually going to work in practice. He would also try to convince anyone who was going to give Judas to Cassius that it was a Bad Idea and that they could reconsider.

Jack will, for lack of a better option, strike an on-the-fly deal with Cassius, though he won't play any direct part in retrieving Judas.

She's not going to be much use when it comes to getting in to Judas proper and is aware of that, instead she's focused on providing close support during combat or stealth situations and will put herself in harms way (within reason... she really wants this coin but she doesn't want to die for it) to be able to manipulate the senses of UNA soldiers where necessary to allow other Displaced to avoid them or put them out.

Summary of Actions in or around UNA base: On the assumption that somebody tells him the rough plan of action, he'll have set himself up somewhere relatively close to the loading dock the Displaced entered through with his paltry bag of med supplies. He'll be keeping a close eye on the network and listening out with his power for distress within his range, but mostly his intention is to use his power to reroute anyone who approaches intending to enter (ie UNA, other delivery folk, etc) away from the base toward various locations in the city using his fun new mind control power branch. He will also attempt to keep the loading dock clear with that same programming power to try and give the Displaced an easier time of exiting the building if they do manage to come back the same way.
