JUNE 2020 CALENDAR

> JUNE 2020
MAY 1ST – MAY 15TH

IMPORTANT OOC NOTES

◉ Our Activity Check for May is up! We will be reaching out to anyone who doesn't respond to see if they're still interested in the game.

◉ Moving forward, we're going to do away with the concept of double activity for AC strikes. Simply put: the "striatus" concept is here to stay from now on. In light of the state of the world, we realized that it was silly to even consider adopting double AC when someone had a strike the month before. Just play the next month—stuff keeps coming up and we want Meadowlark to be something that you look forward to in your downtime.

◈ As a note, if we do see a player abusing this, we will message them privately and ask that they make AC multiple months in a row. For example, "abusing" it would involve taking the maximum number of striatuses possible in a 4-6 month period. Meadowlark is still a player-capped game, so we ask that you please be respectful of that when considering whether you have the time and interest to remain in the game.

◈ We have updated the FAQ to reflect these changes!

◉ AC will continue to be halved (10 comments across 2-4 threads for old players, 5 across 2-4 for new players). At the earliest, we think August might be when we return to normal on AC. However, we'll let you know in our July calendar if that is, in fact, the case.

◉ We're extending the application window by two days to give people room to app if slots have opened up in the game. This means that applications will close at 23:59 on JUNE 9. This will give any swept players 24 hours to respond to our message about being swept, as well as an additional day to any newcomers to get their application in. If you were looking to hold off to apply for July and need a little extra time for your application, contact us on the mod contact page to get an extension.

Our event aftermath is live! Keep in mind that our monthly rundown for New Amsterdam will have less details than normal because the vast majority of New Amsterdam news will be in the aftermath itself.

◉ Moving forward, we believe that our next major event will be in mid-to-late July! We already have plans in mind for this event, but the particulars will be determined closer to the date itself. The date may change! We don't want it to feel like we're rushing from one event to another, and want to make sure that people have dealt with the fallout from our May event. That said, it will be more straightforward in nature, and ties into a few other plots!

◉ Finally, a lot of player plots were put into motion in the simulation itself. Please feel free to follow up! Head over to the Plot Engagement page to get this going. All outstanding plot engagement responses will go out ASAP, but it may not be tomorrow (Sunday, 6/7/2020) because we had to prepare this aftermath.

WEATHER: It's heating up, but it's still temperate enough. There are scattered showers throughout New Amsterdam with a high of 75 and lows of 65.

NOTABLE NEWS:

◉ While the people of New Amsterdam were forced into a state of Suspended Animation via their implants, that isn't the same for the rest of New Amsterdam. Assuming Tony Stark and Gabriel Reyes didn't go around pruning some trees—and we think that's a pretty safe assumption—the city is overrun once again with greenery. Plumbing will be clogged again, and various greenhouses will be overflowing with fresh fruits and vegetables (as well as some that should now be promptly turned into compost). Want to make some quick bucks? Businesses across the city are temporarily hiring people to help clean up the messes.

◉ Resolution Day has come and gone, and needless to say … it's been cancelled for the year. Thanks to the controversy around the United Nations' involvement with the AI Judas, megacities around the world have decided not to go ahead with Resolution Day festivities. This is also out of support for New Amsterdam and the people who have undergone a long period of trauma. Even if they're free now, it's not the time to celebrate the eradication of the AI by the UN.

◉ On June 5, 2512, there will be an emergency election in New Amsterdam. Right now, this means that Simone Durcell and Joseph Lynch will be going head to head in this election. However, the nature of the emergency election means that a surprise candidate can come up at a time like this.

◈ As a note, the basic rundown for Lynch and Durcell is here. Jovavich passed away as a result of the event.

◈ We're open to any characters trying to run for governor, or for our players to make up any new NPCs to run in this election. Given the state of New Amsterdam, it's going to be a bit of a mess. Bring any suggestions to us on our Plot Engagement page!

DROPS: Bartimaeus, Cassandra Cain, Tim Gutterson, Kitty Jones, Melisandre, Klaus Mikaelson, and Eliot Waugh.
